Juxtapose.inc/ JUX

Charlene Thuring is a senior designer based with MAS Linea Aqua before she left to pursue a career as an independent designer. Her label C.H.A.R.L.E.N.E. has forayed into swimwear. With time, Charlene and Indeevari Yapa Abeywardena collaborated in order to create the brand Juxtapose (JUX), which featured simple yet sophisticated styles highlighted by brilliant artwork that was created by the students of Navodaya, a school for children with special needs.

The collection consisted of a playful color scheme of bold and bright shades with a lot of focus on floral prints. Juxtapose.inc is about placing different things together in order to show their similarity or difference.

“That’s what we do. Our products are created by unique children with special needs, who spread their joy and beauty through each of these carefully created pieces.”

Juxtapose.inc products are ethically made and completely driven towards benefiting the kids who are the artistic influence behind the brand. Support us to help encourage the little minds to explore their creativity.

Ape Gama / National Craft Council Sri Lanka / Local Artisans

This long term partnership is made with the aspiration of preserving local textiles and crafts. The approach the fashion industry has made to the local crafts of many communities has been successful. The view is to work towards that goal in Sri Lanka.

Incorporating the rich heritage of Sri Lankan traditional arts and crafts, “CRAFTALIVE” targets on empowering young artisans through fashion design in order to create individual creative products and collections. The Crafts Council of Sri Lanka was headed by its Chairman Buddhi Keerthisena, under the aegis of the Ministry of Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development and the President of Colombo Fashion Week Ajai Vir Singh. The council strives to promote collaborations and the unique integration of fashion and crafts that will enable Sri Lankan designers and craft artists to develop distinctly exceptional fashion and lifestyle products.

“In a continuous effort to develop fashion designers who bring design innovations to crafts”

Women Empowerment

Women are mostly affected when it comes to unemployment and poverty. Without any income of their own, they need to depend on men for anything and everything. If men are also unemployed, if they are widowed or not married at all, the matter gets worse. Women empowerment through self-reliance and financial independence can be achieved by providing job security, through which women can either start up something of their own or take- up a job.

Indi as such through her brands has employed women, trained them and placed them in jobs, to make them feel important and accepted in the Sri Lanka society.Currently, we employ in various roles with our brands directly or indirectly;
